Individuals & Societies

This semester, the Middle Years Programme Grade 9 students applied their understanding of the Systems, Identity and Relationships concepts while exploring the topic of Nation States in 18th Century Europe. Exploring the Congress of Vienna in 1815, students divided into groups representing Great Britain, Austria, Prussia and Russia: adhering to the Five Guiding Principles of the Congress of Vienna, they had to redraw the map of Europe, applying the Toulmin Model to think critically, and ensure their national interests were satisfied. Active learners throughout, students negotiated, persuaded and challenged their peers’ ideas, and even learnt the importance of building alliances!
